Quality assurance of pesticides is key to leaping the benefits of using pesticides to manage pests. It is therefore very essential to verify the quality of pesticides on the market. Periodic sampling of pesticides at the point of entry and those already on the market provides assurance on the quality of pesticides circulating in the country

Currently, PCB conducts periodic checks of the quality of pesticides being distributed and marketed in the country through outsourcing. However, efforts are advancing to set up in–house facilities.

This helps to ensure that farmers, especially smallholders who constitute the majority, and other pesticide users have access to good quality pesticides. Another important activity carried out under quality control is the revalidation of products that have gone past their expiry date.
